Mission, Values and Vision

Mission
Our mission is to lead people into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ.

Values
Jesus taught that God’s greatest commands are to love God and love people (Matt 22:36-40). These are the foundation of the Christian life and LakeView’s core values:

  • Power of God’s Word

The Bible tells us how to know God and obey Him, so we will diligently study,  teach and apply its truth to our lives (2 Tim 3:16-17; Heb 4:12; Ps 119:9-11)

  • Dependence on God’s Spirit

Following Jesus is not possible in our own strength; we will live in prayerful dependence on the Holy Spirit (Eph 5:18; Gal 5:22-25; Eph 3:16-21)

  • Commitment to Authentic Community

As God’s family, we will love and serve each other in deepening relationships marked by grace and truth (1 Peter 4:8-10; Acts 2:44-47; Heb 10:24-25)

  • Urgency of the Message

Without Christ people are lost, so we will show God’s love in practical ways and share the Good News with faithfulness and relevance (Jn 3:16; Matt 28:19-20; Matt 25:31-46)

Our 2010-2012 Vision:

     Making God Famous (Habakkuk 3:2)

"LORD, I have heard of your fame; I stand in awe of your deeds, O LORD. Renew them in our day, in our time make them known. In wrath remember mercy" (Hab 3:2)

Over the next few years the focus of our vision will be spreading the fame and glory of our God who has shown us such mercy in Christ and desires all to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth (1 Tim2:4).

This means that on Campus we will seek to create a warm and inviting place where anyone can come as they are, learn about Jesus at their own pace, and like Him, grow in wisdom and favor with God and men (Luke 2:52).

Off Campus, we will look for opportunities to serve the people of Stoughton in order to not only show but  also tell them of the love of Christ, who came not to be served but to serve and give His life a ransom for many (Mark 10:45).

Strategies to Help us Achieve our Vision:

  1. We will make growing our love for Jesus our highest priority, and provide a pathway for everyone to take their next steps in spiritual growth.
  2. We will tenaciously foster a church-wide value of  "growing...together," and will work towards 70% of all adults connecting in sermon-based lifegroups by the fall of 2011.
  3. We will develop the skills and capabilities of leaders at all levels by seeing that they are provided with in-ministry mentoring and at least one significant training opportunity per year.
  4. We will encourage everyone at LakeView to make God famous by serving like Christ within our church and our community, and seeking opportunities to tell others of His saving love.
