Camp Barnabas 2019
Once again LakeView Student Ministries is taking a trip down to Camp Barnabas in Purdy, MO to help make camp safe and fun for people with special needs and chronic illnesses as they embrace life as Jesus made them and to reach their fullest potential. Our week this year is “Soaring Hawk’s Week,” where we will serve campers aged 7-15 with various diagnoses, including Asperger’s, blind, chronic diseases or deaf/hearing impaired.
There are 3 different volunteer opportunities:
Barnstormers: for students ages 14-15 years old. You are the true servants of God as you will be doing all the behind the scenes work for the camp, including serving meals, cleaning various areas, and interacting with the campers each day.
Cabin Counselors (CIAs): for students ages 16 and older. You are the hands and feet of Jesus to the campers. Each counselor is assigned one-on-one with a camper to unconditionally love and accept them during the week. They spend 23 hours each day with their camper and they experience all the camp activities together.
Adult Volunteer: Adults over 30 may volunteer in a number of different roles, including kitchen, maintenance, and cabin parents.
Each person is required to register and pay a $50 non refundable registration fee by April 7th, 2019. Total cost of the trip is $400 and students will have fundraising opportunities to raise that money.
Mark your calendars for the informational meeting on Sunday, March 17th, 11:00am-Noon @ LVC Ground Zero.
