Tom grew up in SW Pennsylvania in a Christian family but it wasn’t until his freshman year at University of Illinois through Intervarsity Christian Fellowship that he came to understand what faith in Jesus meant. After graduating Tom took a job with General Motors as an engineer, met future wife Barb and attended an African American church in inner city Detroit. That was an eye opening experience not only to see a different church culture but also the systemic struggles of the inner city and drug use. A few years later Tom moved to Boston to attend Gordon Conwell Theological Seminary, receiving a Masters of Arts in Theological Studies and sharing life in an inner city Hispanic church in Chelsea. After graduating in 1992 Tom returned to the engineering field and came to Stoughton to work for Nelson/Cummins where he is currently an engineering manager.
Tom has attended Lakeview since 1998 serving in the children, youth and life group areas. He and Barb have 4 adult children. He enjoys home remodeling, woodworking, cars, camping and hiking.
